Ben joined DH&F as a law clerk in 1999 while in law school and began working as an attorney in 2000. Always willing to “go the extra mile”, this avid runner and cyclist has even been known to join clients in a marathon or bike race. His philosophy has earned him the respect of clients, peers and even opposing counsel. A four-year varsity letter winner in baseball, Ben earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from The University of Chicago. He received his Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University College of Law. He and his wife are proud parents of one daughter.
PRACTICE AREAS
Labor and Employment Law
Representation of public and private employers in all areas of labor and employment relations, including all facets of contract negotiations, mediation, conflict resolution procedures, arbitration, and the daily administration of internal policies, state and federal laws, and collective bargaining agreements.
Representation of employers before administrative agencies pertaining to personnel matters, including the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, U.S. Department of Labor, State Employment Relations Board, and State Personnel Board of Review.
Drafting of municipal civil service rules and advisement on compliance with both municipal civil service rules and Ohio civil service laws.
Preparation of employee handbooks, manuals, and policies for private and public sector clients. Ben advises clients on all issues relating to labor and employment relations and local government law, including FMLA, ADA and FLSA.
Civil Litigation
Representation of clients in all facets in litigation in Federal and State trial and appellate courts. Representation in appeals of administrative agency determinations.
Instruction
Instructor at numerous seminars concerning labor and employment issues including ADA, FMLA, unlawful discrimination and harassment, discipline and FLSA.
